Just thought I'd share some pics of my latest efforts since so many of YOU have offered inspiration in various and uncountable ways. Thanks for that!
I just strung this one up TODAY!
This one took a while as I played with the design before finally settling with this shape.
Please ignore the background, it was just handy at the time.
Palo Escrito back and sides and back of head stock.
Lutz top and Bobs Tulip wood for the fret board and bridge.
Bindings are E.I. Rosewood. Neck is a lam of Mohog, Maple and Purple Heart.

Michael, I knew that was comming..
Mark, I have only played it for 20 mins so far but I am happy with the sound.
I guess it's a little punchy as you would expect from a SJ with a slightly large sound hole.
I'll try to get some sounds up soon for those interested.

I am amazed at the leeway you have as far as shape goes. I keep thinking I’m going to go too far and it won’t sound right but I think as long as you fallow curtain rules (what ever those are?) , you should still produce a playable instrument.
I would have posted earlier but I wanted to be sure it wasn’t a dud..

Wade very nice design. The unique bridge complements the curves of the body, and no one will mistake it for someone elses work. My complements.

Very nice! It appears that you've been able to increase the area of the lower bout by bringing the waist forward -- or is that just my eyes playing tricks on me?

Nice job, Wade! Definitely off the beaten track. Kind of reminiscent of an old Kay and (IIRC) Gibson design, but much, much nicer!

I just noticed you seemed to have extended the back into the heel cap on the neck, the same as one would do on mandolin. Are my eyes playing tricks on me? Looks really neat!

Now that is cool! I would be very interested to hear just what affect increasing the length of the lower bout by bringing the waist forward has made in a sound clip.

As for how it looks? Chique comes to mind, modern contemporary and functional, great design, well done Wade

Wow, You folks are too much!
It is nice to know the time I spent on the design is so noticed and appreciated. That means a lot to me!
I got to play it more tonight and it seems real crisp sounding. I'll try to get some sounds up soon.

Wade, that is pretty nice! It looks like it was inspired by the old Kay guitars. They had a similar shape.
Did you use an outside mold, or a different arrangement?

Yes, that shape is very similar to particular models of a Kay guitar, made in
Chicago. I sold a 1930(ish) Kay "Recording King" guitar on eBay recently, so I
had reason to do some research into it's design.

"The double point venetian body shape was designed by an Italian-born
violin maker named Joseph Zorzi (1878-1977) who supervised archtop
production for Kay at the time."

I'm going to try to attach a photo of mine ....
